Himalaya Project

This small mountain village has very little means to heat their homes and cook there meals. Wood is there only resource and it is dwindling fast. Rebels burned some of the forests making wood even more scarce. The village spend most of their day in search of wood to heat with. This project has been undertaken with the assistance of a field partner who travels these mountains and frequents this village.

The project is to provide 10 solar cookers to about 13 families. Many of the families live in close proximity to each other so they can share a cooker. This will give them an easy and efficient way to cook their meals which will reduce their overall consumption of wood. These cookers are manufactured in Nepal from a German technology. The cookers have been ordered and should be delivered to the village in the next few weeks.
